GENERAL RULES Each Team must supply a marker who is a member of the Burlington Dart League. Markers must face the board at all times, not the shooter. All markers must have cell phones off when marking a game. Markers must be immediately replaced should either Team captain request it. All Markers must score from left to right on both sides of the board. E.g. score on left and remaining score on right. Point of dart must be in contact with the board to count. All darts will count only at the point of contact/entry. All darts are to be checked by the marker and pulled by the thrower. The marker or the player shall not touch the darts before a decision is made by the player and marker. The 3-dart individual player score stands once the darts are removed. The marker may call a Single, Double or Triple ONLY, when requested by the thrower. a. When playing a 301 or 501 game, at the request of the thrower, the marker may say what section of the dartboard the dart has entered, or the total score up to that point. The marker CANNOT indicate what number or section to hit. i.e. x1 for two (2) or x8 for sixteen (16). The marker CANNOT state the double out. b. When playing cricket, at the request of the thrower, the marker may state only what section of the dartboard the dart has entered, or the total number of hits until that point. i.e. three (3) 19’s and one (1) 17. The marker CANNOT state what sections are remaining open. The marker CANNOT cross off any closed numbers. Only the Captain, Co-captain or an individual designated by the captain may advise a player in a singles game. They may not advise a player during doubles game. ONLY Partners may confer in doubles games. When a score has been marked on the board by the marker, it shall not be changed after a further 6 (six) cumulative between all thrower’s darts have been thrown. As the 3-dart score had been agreed to with the marker, only the subtraction can be changed on the score within the cumulative 6 dart grace period.
IMPORTANT CONSTITUTION UPDATE The Burlington Dart League would like to formally address and clarify an error identified in this season’s constitution. Under Articles 6 & 7, it was incorrectly stated that a player may only participate once in a singles game. After review, we confirm that this wording was inaccurate and does not reflect the intended rule. Correct Rule: A player may only play once per set of games, not once per singles game. We understand that this error may have caused confusion throughout the season and may have impacted how teams structured their lineups during both regular season and playoff matches. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, misunderstandings, or competitive concerns this may have created. The constitution has now been officially revised and updated, and the corrected version has been uploaded to the league website for reference. All teams and captains are strongly encouraged to review the updated document to ensure full compliance moving forward. As we continue through playoffs, this corrected rule will be the standard applied across all matches. Our goal is to maintain fairness, consistency, and transparency for all teams involved. If you have any questions, require clarification, or would like to discuss how this update may affect your team, please contact: burlingtondartleague@gmail.com
Best of luck to all teams this week. Shoot well and have a great playoff run.
